The first being, that the bed bugs are lined up in the crease of a bed sheet and feed as though they are lined up in front of a cattle trough.

The second explanation is that at the slightest disturbance, say when you are shifting position in your sleep you disturb the bed bug causing it to withdraw their mouth parts and moving a short distance to feed again.
